Hopefully, someone ("Anonymous"?) will forward a copy of your wonderful post on gilt edged vellum in indelible ink to Mr. Mamdani and his future captains. I love your clarity, your passion, your intelligence and your data-driven pragmatism. I am 76 and my perhaps most fervent hope is that we begin empowering social democratic candidates in sufficient numbers to prove the (already proven elsewhere) efficacy of a system strong enough, and righteous enough, to support true justice and equity, going forward. Three cheers.
There’s no way Mamdani can wait til Year Two to push his agenda through the Legislature. He needs to use the momentum of victory to have initial successes. (Like de Blasio with pre-K.) What holds the coalition together most is success: the belief that he can deliver.
