Thank you for this in depth report from history.

Distressing now is the ambivalence of so many Americans after almost two years of killing and destruction by Israel with full US government backing. Most Americans are so far removed from even the smallest deprivation that is no relating to those losing everything.

There is even broad support for the terrible situation of the illegal immigrants who are being hunted down and imprisoned. Have we forgotten the anti-slavery medallion that said "Am I Not a Man and a Brother"? America being in service to the 1% has to come to an end and that means from you and me, from the bottom up as it will never come from the top down.

Hi Waleed, I really appreciate the lessons you draw from history for ways to deal with our very current real crisis. I don’t know much about the history of the role of personal-, para-, and special purpose-military forces in the development and maintenance of authoritarian regimes. I’ve been reading the recent two volume biography of Adolph Hitler, but I’m still slogging through the 1920’s, but I already see worrisome parallels. I agree that the bit by bit use of the national guard and even regular military in our cities requires attention and active tactical and strategic resistance. But I’m at least as alarmed - probably even more so - by the news of plans to recruit, train, and arm a large ICE army, with selection “standards” and training norms which are not likely to place heavy emphasis on our traditions of civil military relationships. I shudder to think where that might lead in another two or three years. But I bet you could find historical examples that could deepen and refine my worries?? Just sayin’! Anyway please do continue your very helpful lessons for us locally and for this country that I’d really rather not lose. Best, Fritz

Pure BS. Where did you get your stats that crime is lower than ever? Anyone living in any major city knows what the last administration did to our cities... and no amount of fake studies can tell residents otherwise. Unless, of course, you shut them up which is something the left is desperately trying to do -- including on this site.

Hope you feel safe where ever you are. I can imagine living in an unsafe place is stressful. I live in NY, a major city that the media always hypes up and makes it seem so dangerous, but I always feel safe whenever I am out in the city and have never had a problem. I love the city. It's fun and there is so much to do. God bless.

I have heard the opposite from friends and family alike... many have since moved away to safer places. God bless you too. But, just because you feel safe doesn't mean crime rates are down. They're most certainly not.
